IDEAS FOR A ROMANTIC DAY IN BLED
- Classical Bled must-do’s: the island and the castle
It may sound cliché, but in an idyllic place like Bled, what could be more romantic than a boat ride to the island and a visit to the castle with its unforgettable views? Jump aboard one of the traditional wooden boats and ring the wishing bell in the chapel together. Then hold hands as you climb the castle hill and have a certificate of your visit printed as a souvenir at the castle printer’s. Enjoy a drink or a meal on the terrace and let the impressions sink in as you admire the unforgettable panorama.
- An alternative way to get to the island
Oh no, we’re not talking swimming here (although it’s also possible)! Why not rent your own boat and row to the island? We’ll be happy to provide a picnic rucksack for you to invigorate (see below).
- Picnic in your favourite place (in warmer months)
Feeling adventurous? Hire a pair of hiking poles, grab a picnic rucksack (please make a reservation at Reception) and enjoy some moments at one with nature. We especially recommend a hike up Osojnica, the hill from which the most beautiful photos of Bled have been taken.
- Horse-drawn carriage ride
Would you like to see Bled in style? Then go for a horse-drawn carriage ride around the lake, to the castle or further into the countryside surrounding Bled.
- Romantic dinner
Pick up our leaflet with ideas for a good eat in and around Bled, which features suggestions for a great evening out in line with your personal preferences.
- Belvedere Pavilion (closed in winter)
The Belvedere Pavilion is a fascinating structure in the park of the Vila Bled, where President Tito of Yugoslavia used to hold tea parties. It is currently closed, but the friendly staff at the reception of the Vila Bled will be happy to lend you the key. From there, it’s a short walk uphill to this viewpoint which was designed by the great Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik.
